Do Other Women Intimidate You?

Do you find it hard to connect with other women?

It’s okay to say yes. There are legitimate reasons,

like crazy family schedules, work, countless responsibilities crowding our plates…

Then there’s a reason more common than we think. Intimidation.

Yes, it’s true. We girls can be intimidated by other women. Those women who seem to have it all-together. Women who walk in style, and seem to know all the right people, all the right things to say.

Then there are those women who have no clue how to get anything together. They can intimidate us too, because we may feel ill-equipped to be a supportive friend.

Truth is, we’ve probably been both these types of women in different seasons in our lives.

The all-together girl, and the hot-mess girl.

Can you relate?  Me too.

Let’s rethink this whole intimidation thing, since I believe it has a thing or two about our own comfort.

Because the barrier of intimidation isn’t God’s plan, He’s all about community. The manufacturer of these barriers that go up between us and those women? It’s a familiar company called In Our Head dot com.

Yes, it’s in our head and either the enemy is trying to keep us apart, or the “me” is getting in the way.

What if we all started crossing bridges, connecting dots, and moving past this intimidation charade?

And where did that term “out of my league” come from? We’ve got to dump those preconceived notions about 20,000 leagues under the sea where they belong. Because the real meaning of league is about being a team.

This league of women we’re in? Equal playing ground. All sinners saved by grace. Some know this and need reminding, and some still need to know.

Maybe we wait when we’re supposed to relate. Maybe we withdraw, when we’re supposed to step forward.

Here’s good news:

We can trust God to place women in our path, and place us in theirs. We need not feel overwhelmed with making it all happen.

Because being intentional isn’t about being accepted, because we already are…

Being intentional is about making changes within ourselves, not waiting for the world to change for us.

When we see other women through God’s eyes, not through our own, it falls into place.

We become intentional in relationships God designed.

That unlikely friend? Don’t be surprised, just sayin’.

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

So let’s start a community here, share your thoughts. Don’t be intimidated, because someone needs to hear your words today…

I totally agree with your thoughts on this. Just this morning, I went to coffee with friends and ran into someone we hadn’t seen for awhile. Turns out she was having problems in her marriage and had been “hiding” from everyone trying to deal with herself and why? She was feeling unworthy.

Perfect example Sherylcherish! I think we tend to underestimate the support true friends are willing to give. Whether all-together or hot mess, we all need a community of sisters in our corner. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your comments, greatly appreciated and a sweet blessing.
