Hey there, girlfriend, ’tis the season of seeking–the perfect gift, the perfect Christmas cookie recipe, the perfect holiday events and every business wants your business. Can you feel the love? Me, neither.
It’s a slalom towards Christmas from here on out. The Hallmark movies are in full swing and gift ads bombard us at every turn. I mean, do we really need a new car every year?

When crowds and commercialism, planning and perfectionism, trends and traditionalism build like a tsunami, we can seek higher ground, friend. But how?
Remember that Bible story about seeking?
Not the Wise Men, the other one…
When Mary and Joseph anxiously sought Jesus? They like lost Him for a minute. Well, it was longer than a minute and He really wasn’t lost, but the important thing is where they found Him.
“And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?'” Luke 2:49
These are the first words we hear from Jesus–extraordinary words from an extraordinary 12-year old. Then we don’t hear from Him again until He’s 30.
It’s like God broadcasted a PSA for our benefit: We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you the words of 12-year-old Jesus. What Jesus said before 12 and between 12 and 30 must not have been for our purpose.
So what can we learn from the words of 12-year-old Jesus?
While in a lost world, let us seek our Father and be about our Father’s business.
We are called, friend, to impact the world. But before we do, we need to seek the Father so we can be about His business. I’m so glad He doesn’t tell us to go mind our own business, aren’t you? Because our business should be about His business anyway, amen?
That’s when change happens.
The Father has lots of business that needs tending to–and guess what? He uses the most unlikely people to fulfill the most mind-blowing, powerful assignments here on earth.
Because when the Father’s business is accomplished on earth, it impacts lives for all eternity.
I want to be about that kind of business, how about you?
Call to Action:
Seek the Father in quiet time because when we seek, we find.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
Read His Word every day, because it’s a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105
Call to him in prayer asking what business He wants you to be about.
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3
Believe He has gifted you to impact the world.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
Trust Him to equip you in the business He prepared in advance for you to do.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Act on what He calls you to do, even when it’s hard.
“Arise, for this matter is your responsibility. We also are with you. Be of good courage, and do it.” Ezra 10:4
Friend, 2022 is just around the corner and there is something about a fresh new year–it’s like hitting a reset button in the brain.
Make 2022 the year you emerge with bolder purpose, pursue your passion with intention, be the change in what moves you, and accomplish the Father’s business through Christ.
We have been empowered by the Holy Spirit, and while we definitely need strength and energy to check off our daily lists, that mighty power is meant for more.
We can forge ahead knowing the Lord goes before us. We will not be shaken.

These are the things the Father has placed deep within your heart. These are the things He may be calling you to accomplish for the furtherance of the Kingdom.
Seek, read, call, believe, trust, act…
