A Word About Mats, Monkees, and Our Calling
Remember Kindergarten? For you learners like me, here's what Merriam-Webster says about it: Origin of Kindergarten: German, from Kinder children + Garten garden First Known Use: 1852 Isn't that a beautiful word picture? A garden of children. So...
“Goodbye, Regret” and Exciting News!
Dear Friend, Ever find yourself dwelling on past mistakes? One of my most shared blog posts dealt with this subject. If you missed it, you can find it here. The response to that post, as well as my own past experiences, inspired me to write a...
Tired of People?
Tired of people not being who we think they should be? Let's take a breath. Not everyone will hear what we say, read what we write, or act how we feel they should act. And we mean well, don't we? We want people to live the life they were meant...
Confessions of a Faker-Baker
I'm a faker-baker. You too? I buy cake mixes in colorful packages, add oil, eggs, and poof, oven-ready batter. Cookies? Same thing. I'm usually buying what the dough-boy is selling. I used to feel inadequate for my lack of skills in the...
Electrified Spaghetti and Why God Created Coffee
What would you do if you saw a live wire down? A few months ago, a semi truck drove through our neighborhood. Staying on the straight path would have been fine, but the driver turned onto a side-street, snagging the power lines. Live wires down....
Are We Scripture Skippers?
Are we scripture skippers? We love our go-to verses, don't we? Yet at times it reminds me of skipping rocks. Have you ever done that? I'm not good at it, but I've seen some good rock skippers. If you hold your wrist just right, and flick your...
What I Want for You
How are you today? No really, how are you? Daily demands we women face can be a bit overwhelming, ok, a lot overwhelming. Cheerful givers we are, but sometimes the cheerful is a stretch. We're pulled in different directions, like rubberband...
Can We Resolve a Downward Spiral?
Do you know someone in a downward spiral? You may feel like giving up. You may feel like you've recited so many Bible verses, if they don't get it by now, oh well. I know how that feels, and truth is, sometimes I don't get it either. Hello plank...
Why Giving Up is Not an Option
We've been lying to ourselves, haven't we? I know how it goes. We tell ourselves confidence is based on worldly standards, that someone else is a better version of us. We feel like giving in. We tell ourselves we've reached our full...

What they’re saying
Love this podcast! Doris is such an amazing encourager to women! Love the stories she shares where compassion, passion, and action collide. She is such a champion of Jesus and women!!
I love how Doris inspires us all to share and live out the fierce calling God is calling us to. It’s no wonder Podcast Magazine recently featured her show, she is encouraging so many women’s hearts like mine through her show.
I’m always a fan of anything that echoes the heart of God in living out the calling He’s placed on our lives, and Doris does a FANTASTIC job of doing this in a way that is practical and leaves me feeling clear on how to lean into God all the more to be who He’s made me to be!
Doris has a way of getting to the story behind the story! She asks insightful questions that get to the heart of her guest. I enjoy the transparent conversations. You don’t hear them very often, but we do on this show! Doris is the real deal!
Doris has such a heart to help women understand their call and walk in it with joy. She helps women understand how their passion, compassion, and convictions intersect. So profound!! Her comforting and kind presence makes this show a delight to listen to. I’m ALWAYS encouraged by it.
